Its still a viable point though. His point is that you target with pongify and he gets to respond and poke your sage and you just lost two cards. That bad card advantage...

Umm ovanize is really awesome. It is great control and can you say blinding angel to the face. Umm you declare some flying ass creature to block it then your like ovanize it before damage is on the stack it cannot fly so it cannot block then don't attack next turn. Rinse and repeat. Oh yeah and shrouded lore. That card is sweet. Extripate is amazing and all but someone will eventually just solve that problem. So for now I am not going to worry about my friend whores that card all the time and I just kill him before he can do it more than twice in one game and just hold back teh cards I play until I absolutely need them.

your point about ovinize is valid but once you have declared blockers the declaration sticks even if it looses flying or become a 0/1 with no abilities. you would have to do it to all his fliers before blockers are declared just to be save. Not nearly as good in that situation as on the defensive side. Ovinze you white Akroma and block with my Saproling.
Extirpate is to situational to be good in most cases. If you are up against combo its good, control aint bad, but beats or burn you will still loose in that situation. Shrouded lore is a good card, especially if you pair it with something like that shaman that shuffles however many cards back into you library so you have alot less targets for the opponent to choose from. Only the stuff you want...
